Zebec Network has bought back 40.5 million ZBCN for about $100,000 in Q3 using revenue from its card and payroll services.
Summary
- Card and payroll income financed Zebec’s latest quarterly token purchases.
- Zebec says the acquired ZBCN will remain outside circulation.
- The buyback’s dollar value represents roughly 0.04% of ZBCN’s market capitalization.
- Zebec’s DAO plans to review whether to propose restoring token burns by year-end.
In its Oct. 21 X announcement, Zebec Network said it purchased 40,536,539 tokens during the third quarter of 2026. Revenue from Zebec Cards and payroll across Zebec Enterprise and the SuperApp financed the purchases, according to the company.
“Repurchased tokens will not re-enter circulation.”
In a follow-up post, the company explained that Enterprise and SuperApp payroll fees are used to purchase ZBCN or are paid directly in the token, depending on the network. Zebec said funds are periodically consolidated with Uphold Institutional for custody and provided a Solscan account link alongside the announcement.
ZBCN buybacks draw on payroll and card revenue
The latest purchases continue a program that Zebec describes as recurring and funded by operating revenue. Its buyback explainer identifies enterprise payroll, payments infrastructure, cards and related financial services as sources supporting market purchases.
Zebec’s January 2026 tokenomics document describes how employers settle payroll service and product fees. Clients can hold ZBCN to cover those charges or use stablecoin balances that are automatically converted into ZBCN when fees are assessed.
The document lists governance, staking, product fees, incentives, and card spending among the token’s uses. Zebec describes ZBCN as a utility and governance asset across its products, with its role centered on those services instead of base-layer transaction gas.
The company’s Q1 report put monthly payroll volume at $49 million, serving 13,100 employees across 243 enterprise clients. Those figures describe payroll processed through the business, while the Q3 announcement identifies product revenue as the funding source for its token purchases.
According to that quarterly report, the desktop SuperApp launched in late February, bringing payroll, cards, staking, payments and treasury management into one platform. Zebec said teams could create payment streams, automate payouts and manage bulk transfers and vesting schedules through the application.
The Q1 report listed 21,626 cards issued and more than 500,000 card transactions processed. Zebec said its cards were available in 97 countries, supported more than 100 tokens across 19 blockchains and involved over 40 white-label partners. The same report said the final ZBCN token unlock was completed in March, after the number of token holders passed 100,000.
Zebec describes treasury custody for repurchased tokens
Zebec’s buyback explainer says acquired tokens are held in a designated on-chain treasury wallet and with Uphold Institutional.
The same document traces the program to an initiative introduced under the original ZBC token in 2023. Zebec says the DAO approved ZIP-4 in early 2024, pausing token burns while maintaining recurring buybacks and allowing treasury resources to support development and acquisitions.
A Solscan account view accompanying the announcement showed approximately 108.25 million ZBCN, valued near $262,500. The displayed holdings represent the account balance at that snapshot, rather than an itemized record of the quarter’s purchases.
In its program explainer, Zebec says the DAO expects to assess by the end of 2026 whether business growth, treasury performance and market conditions support proposing a renewed burn mechanism.
The $100K purchase equals roughly 0.04% of market value
CoinGecko showed ZBCN trading near $0.002414, up 11.8% over 24 hours, with a market capitalization near $241.5 million. Its listed daily price range ran from $0.002104 to $0.002467.
Using the approximately $241.2 million capitalization in CoinGecko’s market-cap section, the announced $100,000 purchase equals around 0.041% of the token’s market value. Against the $9.4 million daily trading volume listed in its volume section, the purchase represents approximately 1.06%.
Using CoinGecko’s rounded 100 billion circulating-token figure, the reported 40,536,539-token buyback amounts to roughly 0.0405% of that supply. Dividing the approximate dollar value by the token count gives an implied purchase value near $0.00247 per token.
Zebec’s payment business includes US payroll infrastructure
Zebec’s US payroll connections include a December 2025 partnership between Payroll Growth Partners and National Payment Corporation, known as NatPay. The company said the agreement would support PayBridge with direct deposit infrastructure and optional blockchain payout routes.
In that announcement, Zebec said PayBridge processed more than $300 million in annual payroll and served enterprise and mid-market employers. The proposed integration combined NatPay’s payroll tools with Zebec’s stablecoin payment infrastructure.
Treasury transparency and revenue-funded purchases featured in Zebec’s 2026 institutional compliance initiative, published as a third-party press release by crypto.news. The company’s initiative included enterprise connectivity and the completion of token vesting schedules.
The company’s card business expanded through its acquisition of Science Card in May 2025. Zebec described the acquired UK fintech as serving more than 50,000 users, with payments and cards that let customers contribute to scientific research.
In June 2025, Zebec announced its purchase of Gatenox, a digital identity business specializing in customer verification, business verification, and anti-money-laundering compliance. Zebec said it planned to embed identity verification and risk assessment tools into its payment infrastructure.
